At the beginning of the month, I loaded my car with taiko and headed to Portland to meet up and perform with Jodaiko at Obon. My car drove like a dream. I love seeing the traditions of each obon. What a great community Portland has! I had a great time, Thank You!
Then we headed to Vancouver, BC to perform at the Powell Street Festival on Sunday Evening. I had not been back to Powell since before Covid and boy, was it so nice to be there! The community over there is tight and strong and I am always happy to be part of it for a while. I wish I could have spent more time, but I had to drive back all Monday for the first day of school Tuesday morning.
Being back at school was hard since I was so fatigued from the drive, but breaking in the new equipment and classroom is amazing. It is truly so nice to have our own space! I have a lot of new students this year and I am excited to see them grow.
Now that the bookcase is gone in the equipment room, I covered the horribly painted wall with removable wallpaper. Also, my school being nestled in the mountain, creates an environment where I often get visited by little creatures. 😊
